Soul Retrieval

Shamans say that whenever we are hurt, traumatised or shocked in some way, parts of our soul (or energy) may leave our bodies. Sometimes these soul parts become lost, unable or unwilling to return, a condition known as soul loss. Healing is through the return of these soul parts or energy, known as soul retrieval.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy combines the use of essential oils and therapeutic massage. The oils, which come from plants, are highly concentrated and very powerful. Essential oils possess natural healing properties – without harmful side-effects. Aromatherapy is helpful for many health conditions, but there are two areas where it excels:

Stress. We all know that some stress is good for us. But when the balance is tipped, stress can very quickly take hold and start to affect us adversely. Some people will present to an Aromatherapist with stress, whilst others will present with the physical complaints that arise from it; ie. disturbed sleep, anxiety, mood swings, skin rashes, headaches, fatigue etc. A compromised immune system may mean that they are ‘picking up’ all sorts of colds and infections. Essential oils exert a subtle influence on the mind and combined with massage and the care of a good therapist, they offer a truly holistic, gentle and natural way of achieving balance in your life.

Bad Backs. Stress is also responsible for many bad backs; tensed muscles in the upper back, neck and shoulders lead to spasm, pain and discomfort. Aromatherapy treatments help to relieve the pain and tension and re-educate you about your back, help with your posture and remind you to relax . Many bad backs are caused by muscular problems. Massage is very effective here, it can break up tissue adhesions, improve muscle tone, boost the circulation and increase feelings of well-being. It helps to eliminate toxins and is also useful for all those who enjoy sports.

Aromatherapy is very effective for the relief of the following conditions: depression and nervous tension, fatigue (including chronic) and ME, menstrual problems, pregnancy and the menopause, poor circulation, high blood pressure, respiratory conditions including asthma and sinusitis, rheumatism, arthritis and joint mobility, skin conditions.

Normal price: 80 euros for full body, face and scalp therapy lasting 75 minutes, unless purchased as part of our all-inclusive Healing Retreat package.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. It provides Indian families with relaxation and healing on a daily basis, as well as playing a part in rituals such as weddings and births, not to mention everyday events like a trip to the barber. The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. The client, fully clothed, sits in a massage chair for the treatment. The therapist uses a range of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. In addition, the therapist will also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face. The session will usually last from twenty to forty-five minutes, and most therapists like their clients to sit quietly for ten or twenty minutes once the massage has been completed.

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension.

Normal price: 45 euros for 45 minutes unless purchased as part of our all-inclusive Healing Retreat package.

Hot Stone Therapy

At the start of a hot stone therapy, smooth water-heated basalt stones are carefully applied to key points on the body. This direct heat relaxes the muscles, which means that the massage itself is more effective and intense than it would be otherwise. The size of the stones varies, according to which part of the body they're being used on. The stones are coated in fragrant oil to increase your sense of relaxation and calm.

When oil is smoothed gently onto the body, each stone in turn can be worked along by the therapist's hands. Therapists will alternate the application of the warm stones with frozen or cooling marble ones, aimed at stimulating the nervous system.

It is generally accepted that treatments of warmth and cold are beneficial, and help to soothe an aching body. What we often need to do is combine both hot and cold.

The hot stones expand the blood vessels and the cold ones constrict them. The warm stones sedate the nervous system and the cooler stones gently wake it up again.

The combination of relaxing warmth and refreshing coolness is thought to encourage the body to detox and heal, increasing lymph flow and helping to flush out waste. The body becomes relaxed in a much shorter space of time, and the therapist can focus on a deep working of the tissues using both stone and hand strokes.

A good hot stone therapy should:

It is said to have health benefits for people with:

And as with all spa therapies, you should never underestimate the feel-good factor. Hot stone massage will make you feel nurtured, pampered and special.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of 'imbalance', and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

A Reflexologist uses hands only to apply pressure to the feet. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse. Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China.

Reflexology is complementary therapy, which works on the feet to help heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms.Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Thai Body Massage

What Is Thai Massage?

Traditional Thai Massage is a fusion of eastern bodywork techniques ranging from Acupressure to Yoga for a truly Zen-like experience.

A blend of yoga, acupressure and reflexology, Traditional Thai Massage, or Nuad Bo-Rarn, is designed to relax and open the body's natural energy flow. Unlike the scooping and continuous strokes of western-style massage, Traditional Thai Massage is an ancient form of bodywork which uses point pressure, muscle stretching and compression done in a rhythmic movement of gentle rocking.

Thai massage has been called Lazy Man's Yoga or Yoga For Two - because of the passive range of motion on the part of the receiver.

The therapist helps stretch your body into a variety of yoga-like positions at the same time doing manual compression strokes on the muscles to further enhance the stretch and release tension.

For your session, please wear loose and comfortable clothing. No oils are used in a traditional Thai Massage session and it is performed on a floor mat.
